Week 17 - Fennel, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Parsnip, Radish, Pumpkin and Kohlrabi

Week 17 - Fennel, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Parsnip, Radish, Pumpkin and Kohlrabi

A nice mix of root veg, brassicas and winter greens in this week's boxes - parsnip, swede, dutch cream spuds, broccoli, cauli, fennel and spinach all feature.

Looks like the summer produce has well and truly made for cooler weather produce now. Melons have left us, avocado is slowing, bananas are in short amounts; quince and pomegranate are here, and soon citrus will be arriving.

Eat well,
Graham

PS. Choose from one of our box selection, and let us know your “no list”; or make one of your own by choosing the vegetables and fruit you prefer.

THIS WEEKS PRODUCE

CAULIFLOWER from down the Peninsula is getting going again - should have some for the Victorian boxes, as well as the excellent Gippsland BROCCOLI which continues to be great value.

Biodynamic CABBAGE from up north have arrived for the Mixed Choice boxes - the ones from Koo Wee Rup and Colac are getting a little small so we’re switching growers.

Bountiful amounts of PARSNIP from biodynamic market gardens in Geelong and down past Pakenham - expect plenty in the boxes. Also SWEDE from Tassie will be this week's root veg.

New season for KOHLRABI starts this week - this brassica had a long season last year, one of its best - it's coming early this year so expect them to be here for a long while.

Ronald has finished curing his Musque de Provence PUMPKIN, and bringing them all down for this week's boxes.

New season FENNEL from Koo Wee Rup enjoying the cooler nights. Boxes will be filled with fennel, bunches of SPINACH and some Mixed LETTUCE as the leafy greens.

Also from the Peninsula, colourful bunches of RADISH are back from this week.

For fruit, things are a little quiet still - new season NAVEL ORANGES from up north start, and KIWI from Healesville also here.

STRAWBERRIES still have a week or two in them, but could stop anytime now.

Boxes continue to be primarily made up with APPLES and PEARS - this week's preference will be for Gala or Fuji, and Packham varieties respectively.
