Honest Eggs — Regenerative Free Range (dozen, 700g+)
Delivery time
Orders received by 2pm Wednesday are delivered Thursday & Friday the same week
Eggs from hens that live the way hens should. Their roosts are moved to fresh pasture every week, so they spend their days foraging a natural diet of grasses, seeds, bugs and worms — with Maremma dogs keeping watch over them.
Stocking density is under 30 birds per hectare. That's roughly 50 chooks on an entire AFL ground, against an industry free-range standard that permits 10,000. At that kind of space there's no crowding, no stress, and no reason to debeak.
You can see it in the yolk: deep orange, rich, and unmistakable next to a supermarket egg. You can see it in the size, too — these are graded at 700g a dozen, and around 70% of the farm's eggs come in at 800g or larger, well above the 700g free-range average. Big eggs are what happens when a hen eats properly.
Best fried simply, where the yolk does the talking. Excellent in a custard or a sponge.
Regenerative and free range, from a Central Victorian family farm. Not certified organic — the farm's focus is on soil, pasture and stocking density rather than certification.
