Week 10 - Pimento Capsicum, Sweet Corn, Zucchini, Eggplant, Black Kale and Tomato

Apples and pears are taking hold of the season, with plums and other stone fruit having farewelled. We’ll expect to see plenty of grapes from the northern part of the state, as well as rockmelon and watermelon, until the weeks start to cool.

Eat well,
Graham

With what could well be the last of the summer heat, we have a nice flush of EGGPLANT and Pimento CAPSICUM from Koo Wee Rup farms in the boxes this week.

Ronalds Grosse Lisse TOMATO should get another run too, with the boxes topped up with similar varieties from Inverleigh farms near Geelong.

For greens we have KALE from Mornington looking lovely, and a mix of red and green BABY COS LETTUCE also from the Peninsula.

Wombat CARROTS from Bullarto haven’t disappointed this season - they are eating extremely well, even the Juice Carrots are top grade.

From Mildura PUMPKIN will be in the boxes again this week - either Butternut or Jap.

ZUCCHINI also benefitting from a warm flush - we have heaps coming from both sides of the bay, with nice baby sized ones coming from local farms near Newstead.

POTATO are from biodynamic farms on the way to Torquay - this week we have Nicola, Sebago and Dutch Cream, with a small amount of Red Lady from Ronalds patch.

For fruit, RED GLOBE grapes (with seeds) from Mildura and CRIMSON biodynamic grapes (seedless) from Robinvale are two of our favourites for summer.

APPLES should see more varieties coming with biodynamic FUJI expecting to start next week.

PEARS will be Josephine, Beurre Bosc and Williams - all from Victorian orchards.

And PLUMS look to be finished for the year now.
