Anyone else get frost over the weekend?
We had a light one Sunday morning. And if that wasn’t enough of a sign that summer is leaving us (or has left), this week we have swede and parsnip arriving.
So we’ll be seeing a change in the boxes over the coming weeks, with the changing seasons. In the meantime, expect the boxes to have flushes of eggplant, corn, tomato, capsicum, zucchini and cucumber as we hold onto tightly to the last bits of summer 🙂
Eat well,
Graham
PS. Choose from one of our box selection, and let us know your “no list”; or make one of your own by choosing the vegetables and fruit you prefer.

And just like that, it was Autumn ………
….. and just to confirm it SWEDE and PARSNIP are here from Tassie. Even when Gippsland growers are picking CAPSICUM and TOMATO.
Even hearing of light frosts in the last week, so it could spell an early end to summer veg.
In the meantime, we will still have EGGPLANT from Vic growers, as well as a little tomato and capsicum that have ripened already.
Leafy greens have no problem with the cold mornings, so the PAK CHOY and the COS LETTUCE will be standing tall and happy. These are coming from Colac and Monbulk this week, and in the boxes.
Ronald is picking his DUTCH CREAM for the boxes - such a treat to have spuds picked fresh each week - white-glove treatment from this local grower 🙂
Plenty of ZUCCHINI still and a little pick of CUCUMBER from Inverleigh.
A new flush of CAULIFLOWER from up north and smaller ones from Mornington.
Conversely PEARS and APPLES are loving the cooler weather. New varieties of pear with Red Sensation from biodynamic growers in Merrigum. And for apples we have the Gala variety from Petty Orchards in Templestowe.
Fresh FIGS from near Mildura have been a real treat. And it wont be long before we see QUINCE coming through too.
STRAWBERRIES will slow down now, but we should have the 2 for $11 special for at least one more week.
