Spuds are now from Colac and Thorpdale - the boxes will have SEBAGO variety or RED CERISA. Ronald’s DUTCH CREAM finishing after this week.
Plenty of local CARROTS from Adam in Bullarto - delicious sweet and excellent quality - should be here until around June.
From Campbelltown and Daylesford new season MUSQUE DE PROVENCE PUMPKIN for the boxes - also from Mildura we have BUTTERNUT and JAP varieties of pumpkin.
New season pick of BROCCOLI from down the Peninsula near Baxter - this pick has smaller stalks and nice light heads.
CABBAGE has been hit hard by the cabbage moth through summer, and so harvest will be light, and prices will be higher. This week the crop from Colac starts, nice sized heads, and quarters will be in some Victorian boxes.
From Gippsland and Mildura, multi CAPSICUM still going well - and a small amount of EGGPLANT coming through too.
Not so for TOMATO with Ronald picking just sauce tomato, and other Vic growers looking to be finished for the year. We’ll have a small amount from over the border for a little while longer.
After that it will be PARSNIP, SWEDE and TURNIP as far as the eye can see :)
And starting this week, the boxes will have some or all of these lovely root veg.
Greens for the boxes will be RAINBOW CHARD from Monbulk and BABY SPINACH from Pearcedale.
The rains last week hit the STRAWBERRIES and Adam wasn’t able to pick in time for the boxes. If we have the special available this week, we’ll add it to the website on TUESDAY when we’re able to confirm if the weather has been kind.
FUJI APPLES are our pick of the apples - from biodynamic orchards Mocks, from Red Hill on the Peninsula.
WILLIAM PEARS are also from biodynamic orchards, from further north past Bendigo in Merrigum - these have black spot on the skin but are eating well.
Late season AUTUMN GIANT PLUMS are here for a week or two - from biodynamic gardens near Euroa, and with skin marks - eating nice.
Great value for SHEPHARD AVOCADO, reduced to 2 for $5 - this variety ripens with green skin, and will be ready when soft to touch, or when skin starts to show dark patches
