This week we’re looking to the Gippsland and Peninsula areas for baby broccoli, red cabbage, cauliflower - whilst on the other side of the bay we have leek, parsnip and chat potato.
Closer to home Ronald in Campbelltown is picking fresh turnips with their leaves for the boxes
All this whilst summer produce like capsicum, tomato, cucumber, strawberries and zucchini enjoy extended seasons.
Best of both worlds :)
Eat well,
Graham
PS. Choose from one of our box selection, and let us know your “no list”; or make one of your own by choosing the vegetables and fruit you prefer.

Broccoli may be short from Vic growers right now, but we have lovely bunches of BABY BROCCOLI from Bairnsdale.
And CAULIFLOWER from Mornington, although a little small, is excellent eating.
New season RED CABBAGE from the Pakenham area starts this week and will be in the boxes.
CAPSICUM from Gippsland and Mildura keeps on keeping on with late flush after late flush - some Bullhorns from Koo Wee Rup will be in the boxes.
Even with capsicum, tomato and zucchini still coming from Vic growers, we have new season root veg coming early - this week Ronald is picking fresh TURNIP still with leaves. Delicious mustard flavours for salads, curries, or roast veg.
ONIONS are all Queensland now, so the Vic boxes will have LEEK until the new local season kicks off.
COS LETTUCE are the mid-sized heads, coming from Joes Garden at Ceres in Melbourne.
Other greens for the boxes will be CHINESE GREENS from Colac and bunches of SPINACH from Pearcedale.
Forgot to mention in the email last week that the new season for BRUSSEL SPROUTS has started early too - coming down from Nyah near Swan Hill.
For good value spuds, try the biodynamic CHAT POTATOES from near Geelong ($3.90kg).
For fruit, not a lot of new news - it’s mainly APPLES and PEARS until the citrus and kiwi fruit arrive.
PLUMS have finished, and GRAPES are slowing.
STRAWBERRIES are enjoying a late flush - still absolutely delicious - but they'll finish soon enough.
The AVOCADO we have this week will be green, unripe and will take about 5 days to come up - 2 for $7
