THIS WEEKS PRODUCE

We’ll be quickly getting used to root veg in the boxes from here on. Still small amounts of TOMATO and CUCUMBER coming through, but mostly from up north - and the Vic CAPSICUM are sure to finish up in the next few weeks too

DUTCH CREAM is our preferred spud right now - coming from Bullarto near Daylesford - and the small CHATS from biodynamic growers near Geelong.

SWEET POTATO from up north will be a feature in the boxes for another week - with PUMPKIN from  Mildura in the Victorian boxes instead.

New season CELERIAC from Inverleigh starts this week, joining SWEDE and PARSNIP from this favourite market gardener of ours.

Ronalds TURNIP should be ready for the boxes after giving them another week - these will be freshly dug still with leaves - we’ll also have loose Turnips from Colac.

SWEET CORN slowing now - a couple of growers in Gippsland still picking.

New season BEANS from Mildura “may” be with us this week after a late flush - if so, we’ll include in the larger boxes.

Mornington CAULIFLOWER is a good size now, and nice tight heads.

New season BLACK KALE with us from this week - and in some boxes, along with SPINACH from Pearcedale.

New season citrus from up north starting this week, with large RED GRAPEFRUIT and sweet tasting MANDARIN (not that pretty to look at but good flavour).

KIWI will have a short season - our last Vic grower is packing it in after a tough few seasons - hopefully new growers will step in next season to fill the gap.

Last week's tasty apples in the boxes were JONATHON APPLES from biodynamic orchards in Red Hill - this variety is perfect when eaten soon after pick - it doesn't store well and therefore we don’t see them for long each season.

BANANA is a little short for another couple of weeks - should see price come back after then.

FUERTE AVOCADO arrives this week - thin green skin doesn't change colour with ripening.

And STRAWBERRIES have some more life in them still - we are going to keep listing them and we’ll see if we’re lucky when Adam pulls off the covers on Wednesday (these colder mornings will most likely cool things down a lot).
