This week new season treats of persimmon, red anjou pears, spring onion and late season beans.
We’ll give them all a run in this week's veg boxes. Along with cool season favourites of parsnip, cabbage, fennel and sweet potato.
Eat well,

Excellent value for BROCCOLI continues with growers from Pakenham, Gippsland and further north - we’ll be continuing with the Gippsland harvest for now.
Biodynamic CABBAGE from favoured growers Mt Whitestone from up north are their usual dense and flavoursome.
Greens for the week's boxes will be biodynamic KALE from Inverleigh - Darren is picking three varieties, the Red Scarlett, Cavelo Nero and Green Curly - all in season and ready for the coming Winter.
In addition, we have COS LETTUCE from Monbulk and bags of MIXED SALAD from Yarra Valley - there may still be ICEBERG but only in small quantities.
DUTCH CREAM spuds from Bullarto have started, and we’ll have plenty of Adams crops from here on. SWEET POTATO will also be in the boxes for the week.
New season biodynamic SPRING ONION starts this week - a short season of a few months so including them in the boxes for the first time in a long while.
For Vic boxes, BEANS are a nice addition - a late season flush from Hamilton means the price has come back a little too.
FENNEL season continues with nice sized bulbs from Colac and Koo Wee Rup.
And for root veg, KOHLRABI looks to be set for an excellent season, and biodynamic PARSNIP is a little *ugly-looking* but the flavour is sensational.
New season biodynamic PERSIMMON from Shepparton area will be seasonal treat for the boxes - these small treasures are ready to eat, skin and all, will eat best when firm (as opposed to the astringent variety many would know) and has a faint vanilla flavour to them.
We continue to roll through new varieties of PEARS - this week we have biodynamic RED ANJOU and the return of biodynamic CORELLA pears (these are listed as seconds by a very fussy grower because of some black spot but eat extremely well).
For apples we have a nice choice for the boxes of JONATHON and FUJI from biodynamic orchards in Red Hill - leaning to the Johnnies at this stage.
