Week 28 - Celeriac, Parsnip, Swede, Tomato, Silverbeet and Broccoli

Week 28 - Celeriac, Parsnip, Swede, Tomato, Silverbeet and Broccoli

Growers outside of Geelong and on the other side of the bay around Gippsland, are still picking excellent root veg for the winter season.

And winter greens are enjoying these morning frosts, with silverbeet, lettuce and kale all enjoying the seasonal weather.

For fruit, it's all about citrus with oranges, grapefruit, tangelo, lemons and mandarins loving the cool weather.

Eat well,
Graham

PS. Choose from one of our box selection, and let us know your “no list”; or make one of your own by choosing the vegetables and fruit you prefer.

THIS WEEKS PRODUCE

With the local CARROTS finishing up, we’ll be without carrots in the Vic boxes until the Mildura season starts - for the rest of the boxes we’ll have Tassie harvest, and soon after we’ll move to Queensland.

Plenty of other root veg from Vic growers - biodynamic CELERIAC and PARSNIP from Darren in Inverleigh, and a new block of SWEDE from Joe in Colac. Expect plenty in the boxes.

Brassicas also feature heavily in the boxes with excellent CAULIFLOWER continuing from Bairnsdale and interstate growers. Biodynamic BROCCOLI from up north will be in the Mixed Choice, and the Vic boxes will have Mornington pick.

Greens will be SILVERBEET and RAINBOW CHARD from Laberouche, and BABY SPINACH in the smaller boxes.

We’re getting a late flush of CUCUMBER and TOMATO from up north, so will include in the boxes for some relief from the root veg.

For fruit, APPLES are from Edwards in Red Hill - our pick for the week will be PINK LADY or FUJI.

Citrus for the boxes include tart and juicy TANGELO from Mildura, CARA CARA oranges also from Mildura, and new season AMIGO MANDARINS.
