Things move slowly in this weather - cold mornings, and colder afternoons (how does that happen?!) make for slow growing crops - although the greens are very happy.
A few local growers have headed off for their winter break before planting starts again in spring.
And so the boxes don’t change greatly from week, with brassicas, root veg, greens and citrus the staples.
However, this week's boxes we have tomatoes, broccolini bunches, and iceberg lettuce for the first time in some time.
Eat well,
Graham
PS. Choose from one of our box selection, and let us know your “no list”; or make one of your own by choosing the vegetables and fruit you prefer.

BROCCOLI is still coming in small amounts from Mornington. However, we’ll have plenty of BROCCOLINI from Bairnsdale, in the boxes and for orders.
Pakenham PARSNIP is little smaller than the monsters being dug up at Darrens in Inverleigh, so we’ll be swapping growers for this week.
Tassie TURNIP for the Mixed Choice and Swan Hill KOHLRABI for the Vic boxes.
CAULIFLOWER continues to offer good value for the season, so expect more in the boxes - so too green CABBAGE, which will be in quarters for most of the boxes.
Greens will be CHINESE GREENS (Pak Choy) and LETTUCE (Baby Cos and Iceberg). For orders, CELERY and KALE are both abundant and top quality at the moment. SILVERBEET a little small, and no bunch SPINACH.
A flush of TOMATO and ZUCCHINI from up north make for a nice addition to the boxes.
CARROTS from local growers are now finished - crops coming from Tasmania and up north - and the Daylesford POTATOES should have another few weeks before we also move to interstate growers.
For fruit, Mildura TANGELO is exceptional for tartness and juiciness (if you like that kind of thing).
Red GRAPEFRUIT from Shepparton are a nice choice, and so too NAVEL ORANGES from Mildura - both come back in price this week.
Apples for the boxes will be biodynamic FUJI APPLES from Red Hill, and a small amount of PACKHAM PEARS from the Edwards family orchard, also in Red Hill.
