Week 34 - Tangelo Nets, Cara Cara, Afourer Mandarin, and Red Grapefruit

Week 34 - Tangelo Nets, Cara Cara, Afourer Mandarin, and Red Grapefruit

A new variety of mandarin in Afourer to try this week. Plenty of citrus in the boxes, with tangelo, cara cara, navel oranges all making an appearance in one of the box selections.

For veg, swede and parsnip are the picks of the week, nice biodynamic cabbage quarters, great value red onions and broccoli and greens of spinach, lettuce and pak choy.

Eat well,
Graham

PS. Choose from one of our box selection, and let us know your “no list”; or make one of your own by choosing the vegetables and fruit you prefer.

THIS WEEKS PRODUCE

Not usually exciting news for most when we include SWEDE or turnip in the boxes. This week's Vics will have some of this under-appreciated root veg coming up from Colac.

Slightly more appreciated is the PARSNIP from Pakenham, also in the Vic boxes and Mixed Choice.

RED ONIONS are great value at present so going again in the boxes; and the Vics will have nice plump LEEK from the Monbulk and Colac areas.

SALAD MIX from Pearcedale and baby cos LETTUCE from Labertouche in the Vic boxes; we’ll have larger heads from up north available for extras orders.

CAULIFLOWER and BROCCOLI still aplenty and excellent value - get into your brassicas!

From up north, the EGGPLANT has been excellent - normally abundant in summer season, we’ve been enjoying a nice harvest in the boxes for weeks now.

For greens, nice bunches of SPINACH from Pearcedale and tender PAK CHOY from Mornington will join LETTUCE as this week's greens in the boxes.

For fruit, Mildura citrus continues its excellent season, with tart and tangy TANGELO and peak flavour of CARA CARA oranges. We’ll have TANGELO in 1kg nets this week too.

AFOURER MANDARIN is not your usual mandarin flavour; it has the sweetness with a slight sharpness similar, but not as strong as tangelo.
