If you’re looking for some seasonal value this week, look towards the root veg, the brassicas and the citrus.
Victorian boxes continue to be affected by this off-season of local produce (the Spring Famine), but there is excellent value in cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli, parsnip, swede and kohlrabi this week. Even more so than last week.
Blood oranges, cara cara and navel oranges are all eating extremely well - and the red grapefruit has had a bumper year. New season mandarins on their way too.
Eat well,
Graham
PS. Choose from one of our box selection, and let us know your “no list”; or make one of your own by choosing the vegetables and fruit you prefer.

PARSNIP - large and biodynamic, harvested near Geelong, these beauties are less than $8kg this week (nearly half price from last week).
SWEDE also from Inverleigh, and some from Tassie, are not everyones favourite but with no local CARROTS, expect them in the Vic boxes along with Swan Hill KOHLRABI (looks like a root veg, but actually a brassica - go figure).
Biodynamic CAULIFLOWER from up north is sensational right now, dense and heavy. Mornington cauliflower for the Vic boxes is also very good, just a little smaller.
BROCCOLI from down the peninsula is pretty tender, eating well, and nearly half the price from just a month ago.
RED CABBAGE will be in the Mixed Choice boxes, in halves - and small quarters for the small boxes.
Greens will be PAK CHOY from Colac and BABY COS from Gippsland.
For fruit, our preferred Apples for the boxes will be biodynamic FUJI from Red Hil, fresh SUNDOWNER from Templestowe and KALIE from South Australia.
Merrigum PACKHAM PEARS will be in the larger boxes, along with BLOOD ORANGES from Swan Hill and CARA CARA from Mildura.
BEURRE BOSC pears have maybe one or two more weeks for their season. And the BLOOD ORANGES may be finishing soon too.
STRAWBERRIES are coming down again and looking good.
And AVOCADO continue to defy the weather and are pretty abundant at 3 for $5.
