We’ve written often about the Spring Famine this time of year, as we farewell seasonal produce but wait eagerly for Summer produce to replace them.
This week we’re especially feeling the effects of this normal time of year.
We’re still waiting for Asparagus to start, Broad Beans are here, so too Lemonades and all the brassicas are slowing.
These are the weeks that make the abundant winter and summer seasonal times all the more pleasurable.
Eat well,
Graham
PS. Choose from one of our box selection, and let us know your “no list”; or make one of your own by choosing the vegetables and fruit you prefer.

Last week's RADISH didnt eventuate from Peninsula growers - hoping for this week, but will be checking tomorrow.
Same goes for ICEBERG LETTUCE, which is set to start up again.
ASPARAGUS is just starting, but only from one early grower down in Gippsland. We’ll wait for our preferred growers in Dalmore before we start offering them in orders and boxes. The price should also come down once more growers start picking.
Greens for the week will be CHINESE GREENS, the abundant Pak Choy from Mornington.
PUMPKIN is falling out of season, up there in price, and unlikely to be in the Vic boxes as the Sweet Grey crop from Koo Wee Rup looks to be finished.
SWEET POTATO is a little short too, and BRUSSEL SPROUTS have finished their season with all growers.
BROCCOLI and CAULIFLOWER are also falling out of their abundant run we’ve had the past couple of months. “Spring Famine” striking again!
Winter stores of SWEDE and KOHLRABI are also coming to a close, with not much new season Spring veg to replace them….
…. apart from biodynamic BROAD BEANS from Mildura, which we’re always grateful for.
For fruit, PINK LADY apples return for tart fruit lovers. And speaking of, juicy and tart LEMONADES are here just for a few short weeks.
