Week 45 - Strawberries from Bullarto, Butter Lettuce from Campbelltown, Snow Peas from Daylesford, and Labertouche Tomato

New season local Strawberries from Bullarto get started this week - just $4.90 punnets, direct from Adam at Wombat Organics.

Another couple of weeks for Florian’s snow peas, and won't be too long before his rouge de marmande tomatoes start.

And Ronald is picking his butter lettuce for us.

We’re getting spoiled this week :) And eating well.

THIS WEEKS PRODUCE

Ronald in Campbelltown is picking BUTTER LETTUCE for the boxes this week, and we’ll have a few of Florians huge COS LETTUCE for orders.

A small amount of biodynamic shelling PEAS should be available again, and plenty of Daylesford SNOWPEAS in the Vic boxes.

The beginning of Vic summer produce sees LEBANESE CUCUMBER and TOMATO from Labertouche, both of which will be in the boxes. Still a little early for large amounts, but these warm weeks should get things moving.

Local LEEK is slowing, expect smaller size - plenty of new season biodynamic brown and red ONIONS though, and excellent value.

BEETROOT with leaves from Swan Hill is back too for another pick - we’ll have both red and gold varieties in the veg boxes this week.

With just a few weeks of Spring left, it looks like ASPARAGUS season is a bust. Hoping for a better one next year.

For greens, we have Labertouche SILVERBEET as well as the local LETTUCE.

A small amount of yellow SQUASH for the larger boxes, as well as Mildura ZUCCHINI, which has been excellent so far.

CAULIFLOWER from Mornington is slowing, Pakenham BROCCOLI is back and much better price than the last few weeks.

BEANS are also back, from up north - still a little early before Florian picks his crop out in Mount Franklin.

Nice to see BANANA back below $5kg after a temporary shortage up north the last few weeks.

This time of year APPLES start to soften, even the late season varieties such as Lady Williams. We’ll swap over to Tasmania fruit for the Mixed Choice boxes, and stick with Red Hill orchards for the Vic boxes.

New season VALENCIA ORANGES replace Navels from here - still coming from Mildura growers.

Adam from Bullarto let me know over the weekend that his STRAWBERRIES start this week - for the first couple of weeks we’re doing them at just $4.90 a punnet.
