A close look at the boxes this week will show most produce is from Vic growers, apart from bananas (Queensland, sweet potato and some potato varieties (tassie).
Summer seasonal produce is holding up really well considering the consistent heat, with capsicum, eggplant and zucchini enjoying bumper crops.
Eat well,
Graham

From Pakenham, we are seeing a new crop of BROCCOLI starting up again after a few weeks off.
Excellent value for CAPSICUM from Mornington (close to half price) with peak harvest time right now.
So too for EGGPLANT, which has enjoyed an abundant crop from Gippsland.
On the other hand, leafy greens aren't doing too well in the recent heat with LETTUCE bolting, and KALE and SILVERBEET getting hit hardest. For the boxes we’ll have 100g bags of SPINACH and SALAD MIX.
ZUCCHINI is slowing, but still plenty is coming from local growers. So too for heirloom TOMATO, with a mix of grosse lisse, black russian and roma.
SAUCE TOMATO from Ronald in 10kg boxes, a mix of san marzano and roma tomato for $45.
POTATO will be a choice of Royal Blue (Tassie), Dutch Cream and Sebago (Thorpdale). SWEET POTATO from up north and PUMPKIN from Mildura will join the roast veg mix.
Also perfect for roasting, FENNEL is probably best used in salads for now - nice sized bulbs from growers in Koo Wee Rup.
Nice sized CABBAGE from Nyah - great value quarters for the boxes.
For fruit, we have small FESTIVAL apples in the boxes, along with in season SUMMER PINK, FUJI and GRANNY SMITHS all from biodynamic growers in Red Hill.
Biodynamic PEARS from Shepparton and Merrigum are a mix of Packham, Beurre Bosc, Ya Li and Williams.
We’ve been very fortunate with the abundance of GRAPES after a tough season last two years - the Sultana and Crimson Seedless continue to be our favoured variety picks.
BANANA hasn’t seemed to be affected by the cyclone up north with plenty available, and prices coming down again this week.
New season LIMES return - whilst LEMONS are short.
Plenty of STRAWBERRIES in this sunshine - coming direct from Adam in Daylesford $4.90 a punnet until season end.
