Week 9 - Broccolini, Capsicum, Sweet Potato, Eggplant, Chinese Greens and Silverbeet

Week 9 - Broccolini, Capsicum, Sweet Potato, Eggplant, Chinese Greens and Silverbeet

We have good news on eggs, with organic eggs from Bendigo along with the Honest Eggs from Muckleford both available in good amounts this week.

Most produce is coming from around Victoria right now, so weather up north should only affect bananas and sweet potatoes - if at all. So far, it's looking good, fingers crossed.

Eat well,
Graham

PS. Choose from one of our box selection, and let us know your “no list”; or make one of your own by choosing the vegetables and fruit you prefer.

THIS WEEKS PRODUCE

Plenty enough CAPSICUM to have a few varieties for you to choose from - green, red and pimento - all from Vic growers around Gippsland and the Mornington Peninsula. For the boxes it will be the red and coloured caps from Mornington.

Daylesford CARROTS also have a choice between traditional orange and sweet yellows.

With a pause in picking of broccoli down in Pakenham, we have BROCCOLINI from Bairnsdale and Koo Wee Rup - the boxes will have a mix of purple and green bunches.

A late flush from Ronalds plants means we have more ZUCCHINI for you.

And he will be making up 10kg boxes of SAUCE TOMATO, a mix of roma and san marzano varieties - $45 each for orders.

SWEET POTATO is starting to come back in larger amounts - there may be disruption with transport this week, but we are remaining optimistic enough to include in the boxes. We’ll swap for PUMPKIN if there are any last minute changes.

Potatoes will be a choice of new season Dutch Cream, Sebago and now PONTIAC and ROYAL BLUES - both delicious for roasting and mashing.

SWEET CORN continues to be a good value pick - coming from both sides of the bay.

Greens for the boxes will be SILVERBEET and PAK CHOY bunches. LETTUCE is starting to slow due to bolting in the heat - still have COS coming from Pearcedale.

For fruit, excellent PLUMS from biodynamic growers near Shepparton - with two delicious varieties; RED CANDY and MARIOPOSA BLOOD.

For APPLES, new season FUJI and SUMMER PINKS from Red Hill have joined GALA and GRANNY SMITH.

So far we’re not hearing there will be disruption to the BANANA transport this week from northern Queensland - fingers crossed.

Closer to home we’ll have more new season varieties of PEARS coming through with Williams, Nashi being joined by YA LI and BEURRE BOSC in the boxes.
