Week 12 - French Beans, Bullhorn Capsicum, Leek, Baby Cos, Tomato and new season Apples

Summer may be fading, but the slow start to the season mean we have a late finish - and still plenty of capsicum, tomato and sweet corn for you.

For seasonal value, also check out beans, lettuce, zucchini and this weeks bananas.

Eat well,

Graham

PS. Choose from one of our box selection, and let us know your “no list”; or make one of your own by choosing the vegetables and fruit you prefer.

THIS WEEKS PRODUCE

New harvest of BABY COS from Baxter is here, with dams getting a little relief with recent rains.

Gippsland and Shepparton growers are picking Red BULLHORN CAPSICUM for the boxes, and a new season of JAP PUMPKIN returns from Mildura.

SWEET CORN season has a little more left in it, so we are going another week with corn in the boxes.

TOMATO from Koo Wee Rup, although a little less beautiful than the biodynamic crop we recently had, is excellently priced and eating nicely.

French round BEANS from Shepparton and Bairnsdale also eating well, and both these growers have exceptional quality.

BROCCOLI is slowing, and limited now with the end of Summer - we’ll have a small amount, from Nyah in the north of Vic; or in the boxes will be bunches of BROCCOLINI or PURPLE CAULIFLOWER from up north (depending on availability).

ORANGES from Mildura have finished for their season - we may see some from Renamark in South Australia, but won't know until later in the week or even next week.

New season biodynamic apples from Red Hill include the first of SUMMER PINK and FUJI - at higher prices than usual, at least for now.

BANANA has come back in price, and the new season WILLIAMS PEARS also good value.

And for something new, we have the first of Shepparton ROCKMELON this week.
