Week 19 - All Biodynamic this Week - Celeriac, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Swede, Capsicum, Red Cabbage, Apples, Pears and Quince

Week 19 - All Biodynamic this Week - Celeriac, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Swede, Capsicum, Red Cabbage, Apples, Pears and Quince

A nice nod to brassicas, root veg and biodynamic produce in this week's boxes.

Local growers near Geelong have celeriac, swede and parsnip - growers up north bringing the cauliflower, cabbage and broccoli.

Colder weather brings green capsicum, more brassicas and root veg, and leafy greens that love those frosty mornings.

And our biodynamic fruit is coming from Red Hill on the Peninsula, and Merrigum up past Bendigo.

You’ll find a nice mix in this week's boxes.

Eat well,
Graham

PS. Choose from one of our box selection, and let us know your “no list”; or make one of your own by choosing the vegetables and fruit you prefer.

THIS WEEKS PRODUCE

The Winter season is starting to bring back more biodynamic produce from local Victorian growers (I know we’re still in the middle of Autumn, but the produce season starts a little earlier).

From up north biodynamic BROCCOLI and CAULIFLOWER will be from some excellent growers - closer to home, we also have Bairnsdale Broccolini and Cauliflower from Mornington.

RED CABBAGE will be in the boxes this week - also from biodynamic growers up north, so just in the Mixed Choice boxes.

From Inverleigh near Geeling, Darren's CELERIAC is second to none - use it in soups, roasted or slice into thin discs and fry for an amazing snack (my favourite).

Also from Darren his SWEDE and PARSNIP are just starting, and will feature heavily through the next few months.

Ronald will be picking SILVERBEET for next week's boxes - for this week we are including BABY COS from the Peninsula and luscious bulbs of FENNEL from Koo Wee Rup.

JAP PUMPKIN is great value for $2.50kg, so too Swan Hill BEETROOT which is kicking off another new season.

And as the summer veg finishes, we will see less cucumber, tomato and capsicum - but we will see GREEN CAPSCIUM from Mildura, and some last minute EGGPLANT from Labertouche.

ZUCCHINI on the other hand just keep on keeping on.

New season ORANGES from Swan Hill start this week - first up are the Navels.

For APPLES we have 5 varieties for you - fuji, pink lady, jonathan, golden delicious and granny smiths.

Biodynamic QUINCE from Shepparton has to be tried before season end - been poaching them and eating them most mornings.

AVOCADO returns, and looks to be back for awhile - this week's Hass variety is just 2 for $5 (we may have Fuerte Avo next week).
