Week 38 - Beetroot, Mushrooms, Broccolini, Parsnip, Oak Lettuce, Avocado & Tangelo

Week 38 - Beetroot, Mushrooms, Broccolini, Parsnip, Oak Lettuce, Avocado & Tangelo

We’re still holding off on asparagus, but it's coming!

Broccolini returns in abundance alongside biodynamic broccoli and more consistent beans as the weather warms up.

Final Victorian beetroot before the season shifts north, plus new season parsnips and tender oak lettuce from local growers.

Delayed tomatoes from last week finally arrive, with Lady Williams apples, returning avocados, continuing citrus varieties, and nice value for bananas and strawberries.

Eat well,
Graham

PS. Choose from one of our box selection, and let us know your “no list”; or make one of your own by choosing the vegetables and fruit you prefer.

THIS WEEKS PRODUCE

Bairnsdale BROCCOLINI is back in abundance for the week and just $4.90 a bunch, and biodynamic BROCCOLI nice value too.

Loose BEETROOT from Vic growers is now slowing, with the season moving over to northern growers after this week. So we’ll be including a pick of beets with leaves from Swan Hill in the boxes.

BEANS are back, and should be more consistent as the weather warms up (and rains stays away whilst picking).

Spuds for the boxes will be small DESIREE CHATS from Queensland, and large SWEET POTATO return to the Mixed Choice boxes. Vic boxes will have Mildura BUTTERNUT pumpkin.

MUSHROOM grower from Diggers Rest had a bad week last week, and missed the delivery time to get them in the Vic boxes for you - so we’re trying again, and he’s *promised* no delivery this week.

New season PARSNIP welcomed by a few last week - back in this week's boxes.

Local growers have started picking ASPARAGUS down in Dalmore, just outside Melbourne - still too rich for us, we’ll wait a week or two before including.

Koo Wee Rup FENNEL feature heavily in the boxes this week, along with new season tender OAK LETTUCE from Monbulk.

Large heads of COS LETTUCE return whilst we wait for the BABY COS to return next week or the week after.

Last week's TOMATO didn't arrive (lots of transport disruption due to the long weekend down here), so I'm expecting to include in the boxes this week instead.

Our apples for the boxes will be LADY WILLIAMS from Red Hill; and we’re bringing AVOCADO back in the boxes for this week for a little different, along with the usual citrus of MANDARIN, NAVEL ORANGES and the return of TANGELO from Mildura..

DAISY MANDARIN returns too, as we say farewell to the Imperial Mandies.

BANANA are back in price thankfully, and STRAWBERRIES continue for just $6.80.
