Week 45 - Lebanese Cucumber, Baby Cos Lettuce, Beetroot, Capsicum, Zucchini, Swiss Browns and Leek

Week 45 - Lebanese Cucumber, Baby Cos Lettuce, Beetroot, Capsicum, Zucchini, Swiss Browns and Leek

We’re seeing the first signs of the seasons crossing over with artichoke, broad beans, asparagus slowing whilst local growers starting to bring in cucumber, and victorian snow peas starting off strongly.

From up north we’ll start to see more tomato and capsicum, and last weeks sweet corn continues in the boxes.

THIS WEEKS PRODUCE

LEBANESE CUCUMBER from Vic growers in Labertouche are starting this week, kicking off the summer produce - won't be long before we see tomato, eggplant and capsicum too.

In the meantime TOMATO is coming from up north, and nice ones too - hopefully we’ll be expecting some small red CAPSICUM for the boxes this week too.

From Nyah in northern Victoria, SNOW PEAS season has started; and DAIKON RADISH season has started again in Colac.

Also from Colac, we have LEEK in this week's boxes instead of Onions.

ARTICHOKE came and went a bit quick for us this year - we were a bit slow to include it in the boxes, and by the time we did, growing had slowed. ASPARAGUS also didn't really get going this season, and may well be finishing very soon too, unless we see a late flush in a couple of weeks.

Swiss Brown MUSHROOMS from Diggers Rest return - and will be in the larger Victorian boxes.

Greens for the boxes will be SILVERBEET from Colac and SPINACH, along with BABY COS LETTUCE from Baxter.

CELERY is a little short right now, so we’ve taken off the orders until we can be a little more confident in quality and availability.

SWEET POTATO and SWEET CORN from Queensland have started again in earnest, and will be with us into summer.

VALENCIA ORANGES will be replacing Navel Oranges from Mildura as the summer citrus.

BANANA is coming in with a little more abundance and the price is starting to reflect that.

PEARS are continuing late into the season, which has been a nice relief to all the winter citrus.

Soon NECTARINES and PEACHES will be starting from Swan Hill - possibly even next week.

And MANGO continues, with a little more ripeness compared to last week's green ones.
