Week 49 - Beans, Capsicum, Baby Daikon bunches, Baby Cos, biodynamic Cucumber, Red Cabbage, Kalie Apples

Week 49 - Beans, Capsicum, Baby Daikon bunches, Baby Cos, biodynamic Cucumber, Red Cabbage, Kalie Apples

For the last week of the year (!) do we go with salad veg or roasting veg?

We’ve tried to mix it up a little - plenty of summer salad veg in bean, cucumber, radish, lettuce and tomato; along with new season pumpkin, capsicum, and of course carrots and spuds.

Enjoy the last weeks veg box and eat well over the break 😀

PS. Choose from one of our box selection, and let us know your “no list”; or make one of your own by choosing the vegetables and fruit you prefer.

THIS WEEKS PRODUCE

The delicious biodynamic CUCUMBER from Inverleigh has started - large lebanese cucumbers just in time for Christmas salads.

Local TOMATO had an early start last week, but will be a few weeks until we see consistent harvest to include in the boxes.

ZUCCHINI is starting to appear from many more Vic growers - and you’re probably seeing plenty of flowers on your own plants if you have them in the garden - we’re still taking from our preferred Mildura growers and will swap over to the biodynamic crop when it starts.

CAPSICUM from Labertouche should start in the New Year - in the meantime we have the beginnings of the crop up north in this week's Mixed Choice boxes.

BEANS from Bairnsdale started last week, joining SUGAR SNAPS and SNOW PEAS from Nyah in northern Victoria.

For LETTUCE, the small heads of BABY COS have returned, joining FANCY and ICEBERG.

Ronald in Campbelltown is picking and bunching BABY DAIKON RADISH for the larger boxes and the Victorian boxes to go with the Baby Cos from Baxter - each bunch will have 3 or 4 coloured daikon - small and tender.

Other greens in the boxes will be SILVERBEET from Colac and BABY SPINACH from Pearcedale.

With SWEET POTATO in limited supply, we are including JAP PUMPKIN for the second week in a row. BUTTERNUT pumpkin is also available.

New season biodynamic KALIE APPLES from Red Hill will be this week's apple for the boxes - a nice crisp and sweet apple variety.

Biodynamic APRICOT from Majestic Park are having an excellent season - if the small seconds are good quality we’ll include them in the boxes.

Otherwise we’ll have VALENCIA ORANGES from MIldura, and for the larger boxes some MANGO from up north.

NECTARINES from Swan Hill should be available; unsure at this stage about PEACHES.

Plenty of STRAWBERRIES from Bullarto, and AVOCADO from Mildura (2 for $5).
