Week 5 - Black Amber Plums, Bullhorn Capsicum, Baby Broccoli, Pak Choy, Silverbeet, Eggplant and Sweet Corn

Week 5 - Black Amber Plums, Bullhorn Capsicum, Baby Broccoli, Pak Choy, Silverbeet, Eggplant and Sweet Corn

Plenty of tomato and cucumber, new season eggplant starting, still waiting for the capsicum to show up in force and no sign of apple summer varieties - this is what the start of the summer season looks like.

Boxes will be stacked with sweet corn, lettuce, greens, broccoli, beans and the delicious biodynamic summer produce from down Inverleigh way.

Eat well,

Graham

PS. Choose from one of our box selection, and let us know your “no list”; or make one of your own by choosing the vegetables and fruit you prefer.

THIS WEEKS PRODUCE

From Koo Wee Rup SWEET CORN is starting to get going for the Summer.  We should see plenty over the next few weeks.

And BEANS come and go rather quickly during the heat, but this week we have a pick from down Warrnambool where it's been slightly cooler.

New season EGGPLANT from biodynamic growers near Geelong is on their way - will be in the larger Victorian boxes either this week or next.

Biodynamic TOMATO has been a staple in the boxes since the beginning of the year - there are less $ options from over the border, but nothing tastier than these beauties from Darren in Inverleigh.

The same goes for Darren’s CUCUMBER, which has come back in price slightly this week.

Not sure if we’ll have CAPSICUM - maybe a small amount of Yellow Bullhorns.

For greens, nice tender bunches of PAK CHOY from down the Peninsula, medium sized MIDI LETTUCE from Joe's Garden in Ceres and large fresh bunches of SILVERBEET from Joe in Colac.

FENNEL taking a break until cooler weather returns in Autumn.

For fruit, new season GALA and GRANNY SMITH apples are starting; and CLAPP PEARS from Shepparton are the pear of choice for the boxes.

Berries have bounced back well from the extreme heat last week with BLUEBERRIES and
STRAWBERRIES enjoying the cooler nights at the beginning of this week.

For PLUMS we have varieties of BLOOD and BLACK AMBER - both from biodynamic orchards.
