Week 5 - Cauliflower, Baby Cos, Sweet Potato, Bullhorns, Spring Onion and Pak Choy

For local produce, you can’t go past tomato, cauliflower, broccoli, eggplant, spring onion, cucumber and zucchini - along with all the leafy greens right now.

It's the peak season for summer produce.

Tomatoes are just getting started, zucchini have been rolling through steadily and broccoli is super value right now.

Eat well,
Graham

THIS WEEKS PRODUCE

Ronald in Campbelltown has been ZUCCHINI and HEIRLOOM TOMATO for the boxes the past few weeks - he should have more of both this week, along with small amounts of YELLOW SQUASH.

New season small SWEET POTATO start this week, in the Mixed Choice boxes - Victorian boxes will have Mildura PUMPKIN.

POTATO CHATS from Geelong in all the boxes - coming from biodynamic farms, and great value this early in the season.

Victorian boxes will have bunches of SPRING ONION from down the Peninsula, and Mixed Choice have BROWN ONIONS.

Greens for all  boxes will be a mix of red and green BABY COS LETTUCE from Mornington and PAK CHOY from Colac.

From Silvan in Melbourne, new season CAULIFLOWER returns to the boxes.

BROCCOLI is excellent value right now - nice large heads from Pakenham way.

CAPSICUM for the boxes will be a mix of YELLOW BULLHORNS and GREEN CAPSICUM from Mildura.

SWEET CORN cobs are a little small still - we have a few growers we’re choosing from - all around Gippsland and south east Melbourne areas.

Fruit for the boxes will be a mix of BLOOD PLUMS from Swan Hill, APPLES from Merrigum, both from biodynamic orchards; along with Mildura ORANGES and Shepparton NASHI PEARS.

BANANAS may be disrupted by the recent storms up north - both for harvesting and for transport.

BERRIES, both Blueberries and Strawberries are plentiful and excellent value at this time of the season.
