It’s not the abundant summer we’d normally expect, with cool nights slowing down tomato, eggplant, beans, capsicum and the summer fare.
Hopefully we’ll see a late season flush, similar to what we’ve seen in the last few seasons.
Well at least the new season produce keeps arriving, with new carrots, potato, tomato, cauliflower, apples, grapes, rockmelon, pears all added this week.
Eat well,
Graham
PS. Choose from one of our box selection, and let us know your “no list”; or make one of your own by choosing the vegetables and fruit you prefer.

With the slow start to the TOMATO season, we finally have some local Grosse Lisse from Ronald in Campbelltown. Florians ROUGE de MARMANDE should be starting soon also.
And from Inverleigh, we’ll have biodynamic CHERRY TOMATO in 250g bags.
New season CARROTS from Adam in Bullarto kick off this week (or next). And Ronald has a very special stout Chantenay variety of carrots for the Victorian boxes.
New season Dutch Cream, Nicola and Sebago POTATOES all coming from Thorpdale in Melbourne south west.
A new pick of CAULIFLOWER down the Peninsula starts this week, and SWEET CORN is from Gippsland.
New season Jap and Butternut PUMPKINS coming down from the Mildura area, and will be in the boxes this week.
Plenty of ZUCCHINI from all over, including the small ones from Ronalds patch - he’ll also have more of the YELLOW SQUASH.
Greens for the week will be SILVERBEET from Labertouche and BABY SPINACH from Pearcedale - along with the sensational BABY COS LETTUCES from Labertouche Organics in Gippsland.
A new pick of ICEBERG LETTUCE is also coming up for Mornington.
EGGPLANT season has also been set back with the cooler evenings, so we have some from further north in the boxes this week - but not in the Victorian boxes.
For fruit, a load of new season APPLES is arriving. Mostly tart varieties at this time of year with Pippin, Gravenstein and Discovery for folks that like a little sharpness on the palate.
For the sweeter palates stick with the new season GALA from Shepparton, or try the KALIE which is more like a Pink Lady, a blend of sweet and tart.
PLUMS are having a decent year compared to the rest of the stone fruit - we have Satsuma Blood from biodynamic growers near Euroa, and Sierra Sweet from Harcourt.
ROCKMELON from Mildura are ripe and eating really well - expect to see them in the larger boxes.
And for good value, try the Sultana or White Muscat GRAPES from Mildura - both eating really well.
