Week 7 - Red Candy Plums, Gala Apples, Clingstone Peaches, Sultana Grapes and Keitt Mango

Week 7 - Red Candy Plums, Gala Apples, Clingstone Peaches, Sultana Grapes and Keitt Mango

Daylesford carrot season kicked off last week, with Adam in Bullarto harvesting the first paddock - they are excellent as always - as they have been for the last 20 years.

Nice value in the vegetables this week, with corn, spring onion, cabbage, pumpkin, capsicum all at good prices. And for fruit, sultana grapes, strawberries and keitt mangoes.

Eggs are a little short now - will do our best to fulfil everyone's requests.

Eat well,
Graham

PS. Choose from one of our box selection, and let us know your “no list”; or make one of your own by choosing the vegetables and fruit you prefer.

THIS WEEKS PRODUCE

Koo Wee Rup in Melbourne's south east is where we’re taking our SWEET CORN from this week, along with some from down the Peninsula - excellent at 2 for $3 - expect plenty in the boxes too.

New season PIMENTO CAPSICUM also coming from Koo Wee Rup growers - bell shaped red capsicum with slightly thicker skin.

Biodynamic EGGPLANT from Inverleigh has been very good - more for the Vic boxes. The Mixed Choice boxes will have the purple striped GRAFFITI variety.

Local CUCUMBER starting to wind up, with just the one grower picking now - mostly coming from up north from here on.

YELLOW SQUASH in the same boat, with a small amount coming from Ronald in Campbelltown, and rest coming from up north.

Gippsland FENNEL is taking its turn in your food boxes, along with SPRING ONION from Monbulk which is great value right now.

Heirloom mixed TOMATO in the boxes, along with ROMA TOMATO from Gippsland and round Grosse Lisse from premium biodynamic growers near Geelong.

BROCCOLI slowing a little after having a good run through Summer - still plenty, just a little less in the boxes this week. Nice sized quarters of RED CABBAGE for the boxes also.

BEANS return in small amounts, and we’ve found another grower for SNOW PEAS to keep them going a little longer.

For fruit, excellent firm KEITT MANGO are just $2.80 each - small sized but great value.

New season RED CANDY PLUMS were a big hit last week, so we’re including them in the boxes this week.

CLINGSTONE PEACHES from Shepparton return for a short time.

And new season GALA APPLES from Red Hill gets started this week.
