Week 10 - Baby Carrots, Pimento Capsicum, Baby Cos, Fennel, Field Tomato, Pak Choy, Black Majesty Plums and Packham Pears

Week 10 - Baby Carrots, Pimento Capsicum, Baby Cos, Fennel, Field Tomato, Pak Choy, Black Majesty Plums and Packham Pears

Peak season produce this week. Excellent value for capsicum, baby carrots, field tomato and plums means we can squeeze even more in the veg boxes.

If everything goes to plan with the weather and harvest, we should see more leafy greens for the boxes, plenty of pimento capsicum, new baby carrots direct from Adam, tomato, delicious sweet corn and baby cos lettuce from Baxter.

Eat well,

Graham

PS. Choose from one of our box selection, and let us know your “no list”; or make one of your own by choosing the vegetables and fruit you prefer.

THIS WEEKS PRODUCE

Wombat Organics CARROTS continue this week - looking to be a top season for them - Adam has given us baby sized carrots for the veg boxes at a good seasonal price, so you’ll see even more in the boxes this week.

PIMENTO CAPSICUM from Joe in Koo Wee Rup are the small bell shaped capsicum that come in for a short time in Summer - expect them in all the veg boxes.

Hoping we see BABY COS return now there is a little more water in the dams down in Baxter - we’ve planned to have them in the boxes but will have to wait until tomorrow or Wednesday to confirm.

FENNEL should be back with us also; and other greens for the boxes will be PAK CHOY from Colac.

Biodynamic TOMATO from Inverleigh starting to slow. We’ll have local tomatoes soon, and for some boxes we’ll have FIELD TOMATO, which will be a mix of varieties including Roma.

BROCCOLI from Nyah are a larger floret this week; smaller veg boxes will take a break from broccoli, but will have large quarters of CABBAGE as their brassica.

For fruit, biodynamic BLACK MAJESTY from Shepparton are our class favourite - a few marks on the skin, but excellent flavour whether eaten firm or left a little to ripen.

QUEEN GARNETT Plums come a close second - excellent eating.

And for great value, the sweet SULTANA GRAPES are just $8kg - eat them green, or slightly brown for extra sugars.

New season APPLES are coming from over the border as we wait for the local season to get over the slow start - KALIE, GRANNY SMITH and GALA are our varieties at the moment.

New season and new variety of pears with PACKHAM PEARS from biodynamic orchards replacing the Williams variety - others in season will be Beurre Bosc and Nashi, and coming soon Ya Li.
