Week 32 - Cauliflower, Broccoli, Cabbage, Kale, Leek, Fennel & Beetroot

Week 32 - Cauliflower, Broccoli, Cabbage, Kale, Leek, Fennel & Beetroot

Warmer weather up north is bringing excellent value for tomato, capsicum, eggplant and sweet corn - lets make the most of it whilst the weather is cold down here.

Closer to home, the brassicas are loving the cold mornings, so kale, cabbage, broccolini, and cauliflower are all benefitting in quality, price and flavour.

Expect a nice mix of all in this week's boxes.

Eat well,
Graham

PS. Choose from one of our box selection, and let us know your “no list”; or make one of your own by choosing the vegetables and fruit you prefer.

THIS WEEKS PRODUCE

Yes there is plenty of BEETROOT around this time of year, and it's not everyone's favourite, so let us know if you want a break from it (this week or ongoing) because we’ll have some lovely fresh pick from Swan Hill still with leaves in the boxes.

Great value on Bairnsdale BROCCOLINI continues ($4.50 now) - has been delicious and nice size heads.

All the brassicas are coming into their own right now - so there is excellent value for CAULIFLOWER ($4.90 half) and CABBAGE ($3.90 half) - both from biodynamic growers and in this week's boxes.

CARROTS continue to be short, but we expect to have them this week and in the boxes - coming from Mildura and up north in Queensland.

Greens for the week will be half bunches of CELERY, the small BABY COS LETTUCE from down the Peninsula, and in the Vic boxes we have nice bunches of green CURLY KALE.

POTATO will be Dutch Cream and/or Sebago CHATS in the boxes - not in Vic  boxes now the local spud season finished - you’ll have PUMPKIN instead.

More new season SWEET CORN and late season picks of TOMATO in the boxes too.

FENNEL was missing last week - hoping we have nice bulbs back in the Vic boxes this week - along with peak LEEK from Colac.

For fruit, our APPLES will be either Fuji or Lady Williams; MANDARINS will be a mix of Daisy and Imperials and ORANGES will be juicy Navels from Mildura.
