What's in Season

First week back and a little rusty with writing these emails, and still getting up to date with what's in season this week. Seems these rainy days have thrown a few plans out for some local growers.

For the last week of the year (!) do we go with salad veg or roasting veg? We’ve tried to mix it up a little - plenty of summer salad veg in cucumber, lettuce and tomato; along with new season sweet corn, capsicum, and of course carrots and spuds.

This week we see a new season for pumpkin, daikon, biodynamic cucumber, snow peas, bullhorn capsicum and raspberries And superb value for this time of year for tomato, cucumber, zucchini, cauliflower and especially snow peas.

Plenty of seasonal value in the boxes this week, with snow peas, tomato, lettuce, broccolini, cabbage and cauliflower all abundantly coming from Vic growers. Which means top quality, and top value - win win.

A mix of Summer salad veg and Autumn brassicas in this week's boxes. Expect spring onion, bullhorns, tomato, cucumber, cauliflower, cabbage and broccolini bunches. For everyone making your own order and box, beans, snow peas, tomato, cucumber and zucchini are all excellent value.

Final week for seedlings with still a few tomatoes available, along with banana peppers, cucumber, basil and other herbs. One more week for $4.90 Daylesford Strawberries from Wombat Organics. And the stone fruit season is not far away.

New season local Strawberries from Bullarto get started this week - just $4.90 punnets, direct from Adam at Wombat Organics. Another couple of weeks for Florian’s snow peas, and won't be too long before his rouge de marmande tomatoes start.

Still a month to the end of Spring but starting to see more signs of seasons changing - eggplant, tomato, cucumber, snow peas and valencia oranges - all starting to make an appearance from Vic growers.

A few changes to the Vic boxes now zucchini, onions and cabbage are arriving. We should see more new season produce arriving in the coming weeks. Florian from Mount Franklin starts his season this week, with Oak and Cos Lettuce picked for you.
