Plenty of greens coming through with this warm start to Spring - cos lettuce, silverbeet, chard, mixed lettuce, chinese greens and radish (hopefully) all feature in this week's boxes.
The first week of Spring is bringing us broad beans and round beans in the same week - along with seasonal brassicas - and after a false start last week, we should see wombok too.
Lovers of leafy greens look towards the Victorian boxes this week - with fennel, spring onion, bok choy, spinach, bay cos lettuce, beetroot leaves and broccolini.
Warmer weather up north is bringing excellent value for tomato, capsicum, eggplant and sweet corn - lets make the most of it whilst the weather is cold down here.
We’ll have familiar season brassicas in this week's boxes, along with some new season sweet corn, gold beetroot and beurre bosc pears. Broccolini, chat potato, cauliflower, capsicum and navel oranges all feature in this week's boxes - and make up the mix of top value organic produce this week.
Nice to see some Tomato joining us from up north and from polytunnels in Gippsland to provide some relief from the root veg - which are slowing early this Winter.
For seasonal value try the broccolini from south gippsland and the chat potato from up north. Both feature heavily in this week's boxes.
Local carrots and potatoes are coming to an end from this week, with Adams final pick this week before he closes up the sheds for a few weeks break. He’ll be back when the weather warms in time for strawberry season. Once finished, we’ll be looking south for our carrots and north for our spuds.
Both sides of the bay are picking excellent produce right now - with onions, celeriac, leek, parsnip, beetroot from the west; and kale, lettuce, spinach, fennel, cabbage from the east. And from local growers closer to home, we still have carrots, potatoes and turnips for you.
